Pianos are the result of over 300 years of mechanical evolution. With so many intricate moving parts, piano servicing covers anything from a sticky key to a broken string or cracked soundboard. Part of my expertise is analysing and repairing any one of these infinite problems that occur with all pianos.
Servicing can occasionally become more of a restoration project if many of the working parts have worn out and need replaced. My personal view is that one should always try and retain the piano's original tone and aesthetic qualities realised by the maker. This is where sympathetic restoration/conservation has to be practised.
